POI (Points Of Interest) - a term used by various positioning programs to mark places and points that are important to us (or others).
POI can be a tourist attraction, hotel, restaurant, ATM, pharmacy, doctor's office, shop, gas station, cinema, school, church, etc., because everyone else can be useful. In addition to general information (street, house number, telephone number, etc.), the geographical coordinates of these points can also be found.
In the tracking system, the term POI is used in a broader sense. Here, according to our interpretation, a POI does not necessarily mean only one point, but it can also have an extent - that is, a POI can mean a larger or larger area, accessing or leaving it can be important for tracked objects.
Point and fence (area) type POIs can be created in the system.
Point type POI
The point type corresponds to the general interpretation and use of POIs. A point-type POI indicates a pointless map point defined by coordinates / addresses.
Fence type POI
This type allows you to select a polygonal area of any size. Areas of this shape are usually characterized by a geometric center (center of gravity) in cartography - the tracking system calculates and records such a center of user-created POIs and displays the POI icon here on the map.
